Finding Your Family History on Your Lunch Break” Participants will learn 14 things that can be done on during lunch break to research their family history.
This workshop will meet on Saturday January 17, 2009 from 9:00 AM-1:00 PM.
Instructor: Gaylord Cooper, area historian and member of International, National and American Society of Genealogists.
Class Fee: $25.00 Survival Chinese Students will get to meet our new Chinese colleagues, Zhou Wei and Lui Xiao Ping, while they learn survival Chinese. Students will also learn about customs and the culture of China. This class meets on Tuesdays beginning January 20, 2009- February 24, 2009 7:00-8:30PM Class fee: $50.00.
How to Climb Your Family Tree and Not Fall Out!------- This “Introduction to Genealogy” class is designed to take you step-by-step through the process of genealogical research. You will be introduced to the resources and techniques needed to track down the information about your family's history and to build a family tree. This class is intended for beginners and for people who have been doing genealogy for a while, but need some help putting it all together and keeping it organized. This six week class will meet on Monday and Thursdays from 6:00PM-8:00Pm beginning January 20 through February 26, 2009. Instructor Gaylord Cooper, area historian and member of International, National and American Society of Genealogists. Class Fee: $125.00 Beginning Drawing Wish you could draw but doubt you'll ever learn? Based on the book, Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain, this beginning class is designed to give you the skill and confidence in drawing you've always wanted.
The class will meet at the Pendleton Art Center. Participants will receive weekly assignments and be asked to keep a sketchbook diary. By the end of class, they will have "before and after" drawings that will let them see how much they have learned.
Instructor Jennifer “JBird” Cremeans is an area artist with a studio at the Pendleton. She a graduate of the Art Institute of Pittsburg with a degree in computer animation and has taught classes for Marshall University as well as Lifelong Long Learning. Beginning Word 2007 This is an introductory course in Microsoft Office Word 2007. Participants will learn formatting, editing, document manipulation. Instructor: Rebekah May, Professor Information Technology ACTC. Class time: Tuesdays January 20-February 3, 2009, 6:00-8:00PM. Class fee: $50.00.
It’s My Money And I Want It Now! Learn to use your computer to control your personal finances. Learn the basics of Microsoft Excel and how to use Excel to create a household budget. Learn to calculate and understand your net worth, prepare a yearly cash flow budget, manage investments, control expenses, and even balance your checkbook. Find out where your money is going and how to keep more of it.
Week 1: A.) Introduction to budgeting and the benefits. Budgeting concepts will be discussed and worksheets distributed to be completed for the following week. B.) The participants will be introduced to MS Excel and basic functions introduced.
Week 2: A.) Discuss the budgeting worksheets and begin the compilation of the financial data. B.) Continue to develop the necessary Excel skills.
Week 3: Merge the financial data with the Excel Spreadsheet.
Week 4: Finalize the budget. Discuss advanced budgeting concepts as time permits.
This eight hour class will meet on Mondays beginning January 26-February 16, 2009 from 6:00-8:00 PM. Class fee is $50 per person or $70 per couple. Instructor: John Leistner is the technology specialist for Verity Middle School. He has a MBA from the University of Louisville.
Adobe Photoshop Learn the basics of this powerful program through hands-on-training taught by an experienced Photoshop user. This class is ideal for anyone interested in photography, graphic design, photo restoration, digital scrapbooking, and more. Beginning Photography If you have a new camera or would like to improve the quality of photos taken with an older camera, this beginning class can help.
The class will meet at the College Drive Campus. Participants will need a 35mm camera and film or a digital cameras and memory card.

Course Description: This course is designed for Dental Hygienists. The course will cover information concerning possible medical emergencies in the dental office including prevention and treatment modalities.
Long Term Care Planning Seminar Studies show that 43% of adults over the age of 65 will require nursing home care at some point in their lives and that 55% of all nursing home stays are for a year or more. With the average cost of nursing home care exceeding $71,000.00 a year nationwide, a nursing home stay can quickly deplete a family’s resources. It is becoming increasing important to plan for the payment of long term care costs. This seminar presents various long term care planning options and the requirements of each, including the requirements for Medicaid qualification. Seminar will be April 2, 2009 or August 13, 2009 at 6:00 PM at the college Drive. Class Fee: $10.00 Attorney Pamela H. Potter is a frequent speaker on living trusts and estate planning. A member of the American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys, she devotes her law practice primarily to estate planning and elder law.
Driving Instruction Driving Instruction through ACTC can help teens and adults prepare for the road. Students will learn good driving skills through the use of up-to-date materials and on-the-road driving practice. Completion of the program may also help reduce auto insurance rates.
Instructor Gary Kistner is a retired Kentucky State Police officer with certification in driver’s education, traffic occupant protection, graduated licensing and AAA defensive driving. Participants must have a valid driver's permit or license and must be prepared to attend three class sessions as scheduled. Sessions are scheduled on weekday afternoons or Saturdays on a first come basis. The $225 fee for six hours of instruction includes all materials.

Creating a Successful Business Website for Nearly Nothing Workshop I: Saturday November 8, 2008, 9:00 am-1:00 pm Participants will learn about domain registration, selecting web hosting, posting Information, and creating and publishing their websites.
